After Engagement
 Decide on type of wedding and reception, including size and degree of formality
 Set date and time with officiant and ceremony/reception site
 Choose and ask attendants to participate
 Form guest list
 Order bridal gown and gowns for attendants
 Discuss music, decorations, procedures, requirements with official and ceremony site
 Hire caterer
 Hire florist
 Hire videographer
 Hire photographer. Make appointment with photographer for engagement photos
 Hire DJ, orchestra or band for ceremony and reception
 Arrange transportation for guests and wedding party
 Begin shopping for household and personal trousseau
 Bridal registry

2-3 Months before Wedding
 Notify bridesmaids about fittings and accessories. Have shoes dyed
 Order invitations and announcements
 Purchase gifts for bridesmaids. groom and parents, if applicable
 Review plans with caterer or banquet manager, including menu, seating arrangements, parking, estimated guest count
 Make medical, dental, hairdresser appointments
 Make living arrangement with groom for after the honeymoon
 Address and stuff invitations early
 Make housing arrangements for out-of-town guests

1 Month before Wedding
 Mail invitations
 Go with groom to get marriage license
 Select ring(s) with the groom
 Record gifts and write thank-you notes as gifts arrive.
 List honeymoon clothes, set aside and pack when possible
 Check on accessories for your wedding attire and those of attendants
 Make final arrangements with florist, photographer, and caterer
 Check on condition of luggage and replace, if necessary
 Check on an insurance floater to cover gifts
 Arrange bridesmaids’ luncheon
 Address announcements, enclose them in envelopes and give them to consultant or friend to be mailed the day after the ceremony
 Arrange for a place for the bridesmaids to dress
 Plan seating at the bridal table and parents’ table and make place cards
 Send a wedding announcement with a photograph to newspapers
 Have the gentlemen select and order tuxedos

Morning of the Wedding Note: This schedule is made for a bride and groom who do not see each other before the ceremony for pictures.
 Relax with a bath, a walk or a massage
 Have hair and make-up done (don’t forget to wear a button-up shirt!)
 Be sure you eat breakfast to keep energy up
 About 2 hours before wedding, have bridesmaids arrive to dress and help with any last-minute chores and emergencies

1 Hour before the Wedding
 Bride puts on dress and accessories
 Ushers arrive at the site at least 45 minutes early
 If bride and bridesmaids are dressing at ceremony site, they should arrive early to allow extra time to prepare.

30 Minutes before the Wedding
 Groom and best man arrive at the ceremony site
 Background music begins
 First guests arrive and are seated
 Bride and bridesmaids arrive and wait in a private room or a corner of the vestibule
 Best man, on arrival, checks any last-minute arrangements with the performing official and gives that person the fee.
15 Minutes before the Wedding
 Family members and honored guests arrive and are seated behind the ribbon or in pews near the front
 Carpet or aisle-runner is rolled out, if used

5 Minutes before the Wedding
 Groom’s mother is escorted in, followed by her husband, unless he is the best man. Finally, just before the processional music begins, the bride’s mother is escorted to her seat in the front row and her husband takes his place next to the bride.
 Attendants take their places for the processional.
